Am I going to lose weight doing this?
Anything that gets you up and out of your armchair, that raises your heartbeat even just a little, will burn more calories than doing nothing. And there some quite strenuous exercises in the class that will get your blood pumping, no doubt about it. Will you suddenly lose 5 pounds after doing the DVD once or twice? No. No class will do that, but you know that already. What modern dance will do is introduce you to working your whole body, deeply and thoroughly. Done regularly, it is one of the best all round exercises and you will lose weight by dancing often.
