As a taster session, we've provide some clips from the class...
You'll get to see (and join in with) clips that will guide you through steps at the barre like the plié and grande battement, and then you'll see things like a jump and pirouette as you progress into the center.
These online clips all come from the full Ballet for adult beginners program.
It's best to try to do the clips in the order we have them here.
They are in the same order as they appear in the class and on the dvd. For example, our first clip is the warm up, next clip is the first step that you'll learn at the barre and so on.
If you keep to this order, you'll find that the structure makes perfect sense as you workout and warm up each part of the legs and body in an order that ensures you get the most from your class.
An introduction from the teacher who then gets the class to just take a few moments to think about their posture, where their weight is and to use their feet a little before starting the class proper. Go to ballet video class
Your first step starts to use the lower portion of the legs and the feet. Go to online class
The next step introduces you to the concept of the 'cross' formation that most Ballet steps on the barre follow and also encourages you to point your foot correctly. Go to ballet video
Learning how to 'assemble' a position of the feet and then to move your foot smoothly on the floor. Go to online ballet class
See how all the separate elements of a pirouette fit together and have a go at a jumping exercise. Go to video class
It's best to do the class clips in order, since you'll need the posture exercise to make sure you're standing correctly and then all the steps build on from that. So click for the next part...
